Nice reviews! I like the Macallan 12-15 Fine Oak-18 y/o's and Glenlivet 18 y/o, Cellar, Nadurra, Aberlour 12 y/o and A'bunadh, and just tried the Balvenie Doublewood, which for 44$ is outstanding. I think the best ones I've had range between $44-160, didnt care for Laphroaig too peaty for my liking.

The extreme peat can be off putting, sometimes it is like drinking a cigar. We did a spouse night this summer and my wife during the tasting (she wasn't having any) asked who had just started up a bon fire, and it was just the peat smell wafting in the breeze!

I found that the best tasting scotch seems to be in that $40-50 range like you as well.

I still can't get the pictures to attach for some reason.

Yeah the real first scotch I tried was a Dalwhinnie and it had a hint of peat and was pretty good, smoky. So many tasty flavors to try and enjoy, and even then batches differ slightly.
