Truth about Auto Losses? - 07-16-2015

So I was at a mustang meet this evening when I was approached with an interesting story.

Long and short of it.

05 GT auto.
Claims 300WHP

Here's my issue with his story.

O/R H pipe, CMDP, UDPs, Airraid CAI, 91 Brenspeed tune.

Now I own an auto myself, but am I mistaken in wanting to call BS?
Should he not more likely be in the 270-280 range?
I know a manual would probably be close if not at that with said mods.

But an auto?
Heck I had longtubes and doubt I was even at 280 RWHP.
Or is that possible?

He claims when he adds his hot rod cams he wants to be in the 320 range.
But isn't that were autos max NA, even with longtubes which he doesn't have?

Any insight? I really want to call bs. But if I am wrong please let me know

He is probably using "ricer math" to come up with his estimate. I doubt that he has had it on a dyno so he added up "o/r h pipe is good for XX hp" then add "cmdp for another XX hp" etc.

Now with twin turbo 3.5LV6.
Screw you photobucket! I'm not going to pay you to now use my own pictures

oh, so yo posted it on here in addition to corral.net, eh? lol, didn't know that was you I responded to
With longtubes and cams, and a good tune, he'd be around 300 rwhp, maybe a little higher maybe a little under. Depends also where the dyno is done at (elevation), and various other conditions (weather, type of dyno, etc.). He won't see 300 in el paso on 91 octane!

Yeah, I posted everywhere.
Because sought answers.

I went with longtubes and was rather insulted I had to invest that kind of work, to be outdone with just a midpipe.

Before I stumbled into my m90
my plan was LTs, CMDP, UDP, and frpp cams.
I was hoping to be in the 320 ball park.

I was really hoping, since the same list of mods(essentially) were needed to get a new edge to 270-280 and that is on a 260 engine.

But I really lost faith in even hitting 300 with an auto

El Paso is brutal.

Here 14s are considered respectable.
I had to take people to the track to prove that bone stock my GT would do mid 14s.
Which is a far cry from what they do anywhere else in the country.

I see 5.0s running mid 13s.

We really suck here.
I can't wait to move somewhere else.

Ah ok. yeah, NO WAY would an auto see 300 rwhp with those n/a mods, especially if you can't cut low 13's at the track with them. May be closer to 260-270!

What are you running with the s/c on yours? Of course it's hot as crap this time of the year (the times will improve in the cooler months).

The general rule of thumb is here you subtract a second right off the bat.
the corrected altitude density is around 7200ft
The track I think was 3200? Don't recall exactly, but it's basically doubled as far as air density

I've yet to see any car reach anything near advertised spec.
Mine ran a best of 14.6.

With more mods I hope to peek into the 13s That's 11-14 5.0 territory here.

It really really sucks here.

I personally am scared to hit the dyno.
A blown v8 making hopefully 360 out back?
I'd be laughed out of the shop...

On a good note, it hurts everyone :)
I can outrun an R/T Challenger and Charger.

And I laugh off V6 Camaros.
But, still the air is not good to us.
