S197 MGW shifter - 07-31-2016

I recently picked up an 07 GT with some very nice upgrades, including hot rod cams and a Saleen blower. However, one of the pieces I inherited with it is an MGW shifter. While it feels very tight and strong, it is the notchiest and least positive action shifter I've ever used and so far I'm not a fan at all. It almost feels like it is always fighting against me. So, this leads to my question. How many people here have experience with this shifter and is this normal? Is this a shifter problem or something deeper and possibly transmission related?

They are the best shifters out there. They are direct and centering springs are stiff. Not sure if there is any other issues.

Thanks! I am starting to lean towards their being reasons outside of the shifter itself for the poor shift quality. I will pull the shifter, clean, lube, and reassemble it all just to make sure though. One thing to keep in mind, I have reason to believe now that the throwout bearing may be going. Sometimes I am getting a little noise at idle which goes away when depressing the clutch. It is not constant nor consistent though. However, I have absolutely no grinding problems nor any engagement problems. So, it seems the clutch itself and hopefully all internals are fine.

The spring was so stiff on mine, I started missing 3rd gear all the time. Got used to the stocker and just sliding it up into the notch, then installed the MGW and had hell with 3rd most all the time, and sometimes 4th as well (when just doing a lazy slide back) until I got used to it. After that driving a stocker was a nightmare.
