Thumbs up Ford Racing SVT Performance Cooling Fan - 09-03-2013

Ford Racing SVT Performance Cooling Fan
Part Number: M-8C607-MSVT
Fits: 2005-2014 Mustang

Here is a side by side comparison of the stock fan and the Ford Racing SVT Performance Cooling Fan.

The fan is about 1/2" larger in diameter and has 7 smaller blades instead of 6. This allows more air through during high speed driving and also pumps more air when it is running. There are 4 slats at the bottom that open from air pressure during high speed driving allowing more air through. The fan motor is thinner and does not stick out as far on the engine side.

This is a direct replacement for the stock fan on a 2005-2014 Mustang.

Installed a Mishimoto Radiator and Ford Racing SVT Performance Cooling Fan today.

First the radiator:
The good:
The overall quality seems much better than the AFCO this is replacing. It fit into place easier and fits better also. This is a three pass radiator where the AFCO was only two. It also holds exactly the same amount of coolant.

The Bad:
The mounting points for the air conditioner condenser were not quite in the correct places but after fiddling around with the mounts a bit I was able to get it mounted so all is good.

The Fan:
The good:
Mounts up exactly as the stock on did and the harness connector plugged right in.

The Bad:
On a V6 the power steering reservoir interferes with a stiffening rib on the fan shroud. This was easily fixed with a drum sander. First test with the AC turned up to MAX the fan came right on as it should. My dead stock fan did not pass this test. Next driving and getting around 200 degrees the low and high speed fans would not come on. I checked the tune and Justin had them set to come on at 228 degrees! So basically the fans were shut off in the tune. I adjusted them in the tune to come on at 190 low-speed and 200 high-speed. All is well now.

Does the computer have to be reprogrammed? - 2 Weeks Ago

I know that this is an older post but other than having to cutoff a piece of a support to make room for the power steering reservoir does the computer have to be reprogrammed to make sure the fan turns on or was that only an issue because you had a customized tune that interfered with what the OEM tune had for when the fan was supposed to turn on?

No pcm programming change needed. Very nice upgrade over stock.
