18 Mustang - 12-14-2017

Well I am in love. I drove my friends new 18 gt 10 spd auto, 401a package so heated cooled leather seats but, no magnaride suspension, doesn't have the gauge cluster that changes with modes. Here is my review.

Exterior I loved the changes in the pictures but in person I love it. My only real gripe with the 15-17 front end was the nose stuck up instead of slanting down. The front looks very aggressive. Like the terminator style hood. Loved the rear of the 15-17 rear, the 18 I like even better with the Taillights. They brought back Kona Blue loved that on my 11 and complements the lines on the 18. Never been a fan of black wheels but they are the rage. I would go with some chrome or nice polished wheel personally.

Interior similar to 15-17 which means best in segment to me. With 401 has all the toggles which I think is cool. The seats are amazing and supportive.

PERFORMANCE!
When GM redid the Camaro performance wise the 16 ss were amazing especially with the 8 spd and outperformed the gt. The 18 gt I feel is quicker than a stock 16 ss auto ( just a butt dyno guess). This car has 3.55 gears like all coyotes it likes to rev. Cams are better and has a better ta curve than previous. No active exhaust but this is the best sounding stock coyote exhaust. The a10 tranny was sweet crisp shifts even paddle shifting. In auto mode car down shifted well and the rev match was nice and sounded great. Car feel likes an 11 sec car I know I have seen some 12.0s stock. Lund on initial testing ran 12.0 stock, 11.8s just drag wheel and tires, 11.5s 93 tune added and 11.3s on e85. With a twist converter, lts these cars will be 10 second cars. Braking was very nice with non pp brakes which is brembo on the 11-14. Handling is great with its would love to drive a magnaride equipped car.

Overall impression is wow. I would have no issue sporting one. I plan to be in the market in 19. Hope to see a special edition Mach 1 or Bullitt by then. Or a Kona blue gt. The blue oval is alive and well.

If you are not road racing you really do not need the magnaride suspension

Agreed but, I figured someone may ask if it had it. I would forego that option myself. I am looking forward to taking a ride in yours!

Getting harder and harder to afford a GT with each passing model year. A decently equipped Ecoboost isn't much better. Some options that were stand alone 2015-17 are now in packages that add stuff you may not want. They've doubled the price of the spare tire option over the can of glue and compressor that's standard.( $195 vs $405) Automatic trans is $400 more than last year. If you want reverse park assist ($295 last year) you have to buy a $2000 package to get it. Ecoboost performance package that was $1995 is now $2495. Big price increase for 2018 over'a similarly equipped car in 2017. I think i'd pass on an '18 and look for a 2015 or '16 GT coming off of lease. Back in May my preferred Ford dealer had nicely equipped, low mileage 2015 and 16 GT Premiums coming off of lease for right at $30,000 and you could probably negotiate down some from that.
