Yuk. Looks like your hand is forced now to do some kind of different trans.

I'm looking at a Turbo 400 for mine. Not really digging going back to a 3 speed, but it's strong and relatively inexpensive. Probably end up having to change gears too.

Dang, that low of a rear gear? I've been looking at ATIOutlaw.com, and it looks like the lowest gear they have for it is 2.75. I have a 3.66 low right now, so it looks like I'd have to step up from my 3.55's to at least 3.73's, if not 4.10's, to keep the launch about the same.

Just looked again, and they have a 2.82 low. That wouldn't be too bad. It looks like the 800 hp rated T400 is $1495, then add $495 for the Ford Mod case and related hardware, and another $450 for the low gear set. $2485, with reverse manual valve body (no controller needed) and still need to get the driveshaft modified. Even adding a Gear Vendors overdrive later on, it'd be cheaper than the 4R70 or 4L80 swaps.

I was planning on a 3.27/3.31 rear end with the 6 speed to help spool the turbos. if I still had a blower I was going to go with a 3.73

also i did some calculations with a 3.27 and 28 inch tall tire @ 7500 i should be right in the 135 mph range so that will let me keep it in 2nd gear going through the traps hopefully

Well, 7400 is right where I cross the line now in 4th, and I would like to keep that the same. Guess I better start playing with the calculators!

ATI calls it their Supercase Bell package. Comes with the bellhousing, flexplate, adapter and all hardware. The only real downside I"m seeing right now is it requires the use of either an 8" or 9" convertor.
