The Official Collective Military Registry - 08-30-2007

Taking a great idea from Winterhawk via PM’s, and Ranebowcyxx over the phone, we thought we would create the official Collective Military Registry. We also wanted to create a thread that is dedicated to the US armed forces. Feel free to discuss anything military related in this thread, previous tour of duties, pictures, fallen comrades, stories, suggestions to new recruits, etc.

Register

To register in this registry, please PM me the following information:

• Collective handle
• Branch
• Rank
• MOS
• Status (active duty, retired, reserved, etc.)
• Tours
• Current tour of duty
• Misc. (any information you would like to provide)

• Honorably Discharged (w/3ys inactive reserve)
• 95-99: Andrews AFB, MD; 99-02: Hickam AFB, HI; 02-04: Seymour Johnson AFB, NC; 04-05: Maxwell AFB (OTS); 05-07: Peterson AFB, CO
• Discharged. Silly-vilian and loving it!
• I was a fuel systems maintenance troop for my first 10 years. I made it to the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-6). After I finished my degree in 2004, I applied for and was accepted for Officer Training School. I did my last 2 years as a communications officer. Then Force Shaping came along and the AF offered me a rather large amount of separation pay. I took it and got out this past February. I don't regret my decision, but there are times I miss the military lifestyle. Despite the criticism the military gets, it is not a lifestyle everyone can adapt to. I salute all who serve, or have served.

• United States Marine Corps.
• Rank - E-3 / LCPL
• MOS - 0351 Infantry/Assaultman - I play with big weapons and blow stuff up. I've also been cross-trained as an 0331/Machine Gunner.
• Active Duty stationed at Camp Lejuene, NC
• I've been to Iraq once. Oct. '06 - May '07
• I'm scheduled to go back in the Fall of '08
• I agree with Flapjack when he said that not all people can adapt to the military lifestyle. So for those who have served and got out after doing their time honorably, good shit. I just wanna say that I am extremely greatful for being here and being able to tell you about what I've done. While in Iraq, my squad survived a few IED blasts and we all came close to paying the price a few times. But in the end, My company came back from a seven month combat tour with a few injuries, and 0 casualties.

• Lieutenant Colonel (Retired)
• Branch: 19A, Armor
• Reserve
• Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF1 (Jan 03 - Mar 04, invasion/liberation)
• Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF7 (Nov 07 - Nov 08, pacification/reconstruction)
• Chief, Plans Branch, Future Operations Divsion, Multi-Functional Support Command
• Enlisted in the Army Reserve as a 19E (Tank Crewman, M60A3 Tanks) on 5 Mar 82. Completed a two-year program and got an early commission 15 Mar 85 (12A, Armor Branch). Done everything there is to do on the M60A3 and M1 Abrams tank... driving, loading, gunning, TC-ing. ("TC" is "tank commander"... the guy who sits up in the hatch and gets shot at while being screamed at by HIS commander about how everything he's doing is wrong, while trying to command both his own tank and the tanks of his unit, while reading a map on the move, while trying to identify, acquire, and engage various targets with multiple weapon systems... fun job if you're good at multi-tasking, which I'm not.) I was selected as one of 40 instructors from my division to teach MS202 Combined Arms Operations to second-year cadets at West Point -- quite an honor and the assignment of a lifetime. Competed nationally on Army rifle teams twice, ("combat" in '92 and "high power" in '93). Haven't been in tanks for many years now; I've been doing logistics work for over a decade, both in Europe and the United States... a very worthwhile endeavor, though not glamourous.

One more tour of duty, starting this November, then I'm retiring from the Army Reserve and will, for the first time in over a quarter of a century, have just one life to live instead of two.

Update: Retired after 28+ years of service. Historical information above.
