maybe buying a mach 1 - 08-27-2010

Hey guys me and the wife are kind of looking at 2003 auto azul blue mach 1 it has 17000 miles on it for 15300 . wanting to trade my 07 v6 5 speed in on it. my question is how are the automatics in these cars? are they 4 or 5 speed auto's? also what kind of power gain can one expect from bolt ons with the auto? thanks guys

4 speed, 4v motor, easy to punch into the 12s. I want to add one to the stable at some point. They are simply awesome cars.

The ONLY Bad thing about these is they do not have Forged Cranks like the Manuals..They have a 4R70W if I'm not mistaken which are pretty bulletproof..The 70 stands for "I can take 700 ft lbs" But basically they take Nitrous very well and have a Shaker..what more could you want?

They are basically a cobra top end with higher cr and do not have forged internals. If you forge them they are bad ass.

^ Pretty Much Sums it up...I would say some nice Rods/Pistons and a Cobra Crank but keep a High CR and throw a DP 250-300 Shot for best results:)

I would definatly go for it! A convertible version of that car is what I wanted when I was in highschool!

corrected for you they are alot better than the 4r70ws i have seen a stock one hold 1000 rwhp and 900 rwtq on a turboed cobra

Buy it. I was looking at a used one when I was trying to trade my 2002 GT. My GT was an automatic and had no problems with it. The Mach's have 3:55 gears in both the 5 speed manual and the 4R70W, They have larger brakes than the GT and have subframe connectors which the GT did not have. They have the Bullitt exhaust system which has a deeper tone and rolled tip exhaust outlets. There was a recall on them for a problem with the shaker hood. You can go to a Ford dealer and have them plug in the VIN in Oasis to see if the recall repair was performed.
